The La Jolla Athenaeum Music & Arts Library hosts a weekly mini-concert series on Mondays at noon. This concert features Choro Sotaque and will take place at the Lyceum Theatre downtown at Horton Plaza.
Choro, often called the ragtime of Brazil, is a lively music with intricate melodies that evolved in the late 1800s and became popular in the 1920s with mixed roots of African and European styles. Choro Sotaque clarinetist Stefanie Schmitz recently returned from a six-month musical odyssey in Brazil and will share music and stories from her travels.
Free admission and free parking with Horton Plaza validation. Food and beverage is allowed if you'd like to bring in your lunch!
